AAT Student Stories: Alice | AAT Level 3 Review

Alice wanted a career change, so she decided to pursue her interest in accountancy by studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. 

I’m Alice, I am 27 and have recently completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and am now studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting with ICS Learn.

I chose to retrain for a career change, accounting had always been an interest for me but I’d never had the confidence to pursue a career within the field.

I was unsure how I would be able to study and be a mum.

I researched the options and spent a lot of time discussing these with the ICS course advisors before enrolling.

Online learning was the best option for me working around being a mum to a young child. It allowed me to complete the work at my own pace and fit it around my busy daily schedule.

It has also meant  I have completed the Foundation Certificate in just 6 weeks and am on track to complete the advanced diploma in 8 weeks so I can start looking at applying for jobs in a short space of time.

I was worried about online learning to start with as I hadn’t done any learning for 7 years and then that was face to face.

My concerns were unfounded though as the support was brilliant, my tutor always got back to me quickly and the structure and depth of the learning material meant I never felt overwhelmed.

Overall, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the online learning experience and am extremely glad I took the leap to retrain. I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and hope to continue my studies further with ICS learn.

The end goal or objective for me is to be able to get into the accounting profession and hopefully become a chartered accountant in the not-too-distant future.

These courses have enabled me to make the step into this career and given me qualifications to allow me to apply for jobs within the sector.
