This class is ideal for HR professionals, managers, and anyone who needs to understand discrimination laws and processes in the UK.

You don't need any prior employment law experience in order to join.

This masterclass will help you or your delegates to master one of the most important issues in contemporary employment law in the UK: discrimination.

It includes case studies of real-life discrimination tribunals to help you appreciate the law’s practical application and the nuances of how it's interpreted and applied.

Attendees will learn about:

  • The Equality Act 2010 (and what it doesn't cover)
  • The 9 protected characteristics
  • The different forms of discrimination and what they involve
  • Exemptions for occupational requirements
  • Burden of proof
  • Remedies for discrimination

This masterclass is designed and delivered by Kathy Daniels. She has been an employment law consultant for more than 20 years, and she writes and teaches extensively for ICS Learn, CIPD, and a variety of law firms. Her employment law textbook is in its fifth edition.

She is currently the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor at Aston University and an ICS Learn CIPD tutor.

The masterclass has been created by ICS Learn, one of the UK’s leading training specialists. We’ve been an accredited CIPD centre for 30 years and have 130 years of experience in professional education.

We’re trusted to develop skills and careers at some of the world’s most prestigious organisations, including Adidas, the University of Cambridge, and the Gulf Monetary Council.

You'll join the masterclass class using WebEx, a webinar tool similar to Zoom.

It's free to use and simple to set up – we'll send you full instructions once you enrol.

During the class, you'll watch the tutor's presentation and be able to ask her questions in real time, either using your microphone (if the tutor has made it available for questions) or the written chat function.

You'll also be able to see other attendees' questions and the tutor's response, giving you an insight into aspects of the topic you might not otherwise have considered.

The tutor and other attendees won't be able to see you, so there's no need to worry about having a webcam set up (or changing out of your work-from-home pyjamas!)

The masterclass will be run using WebEx webinar software, which is free to use.

You can find the WebEx system requirements here.
