AAT Student Stories: Beth Lamarra | AAT Level 2 Certificate

Looking to get ahead in her career with a programme that would help her grow and develop, Beth decided to study an AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting with us.

I'm currently working as an accounts clerk on a new Netflix TV series. I've completed the Level 2 accounting qualification and I have only one exam left to achieve my Level 3 accounting qualification now as well.

While it was frustrating that exam centres had to shut down over the pandemic, meaning I haven't been able to complete my qualifications in the time frame I hoped, the great thing about ICS Learn is that I can always fit the course around whatever else I have going on.

I chose to study this course in accounting because I wanted to feel confident in my accounting skills and to show future employers that I was committed and driven.

While the content was not directly suited to the style of accounting used in the film and TV industry, I feel that I have a much greater understanding of my job and would be interested in doing further qualifications.

I didn't know what to expect from online learning, but I appreciated the fact that there were self-correcting exercises and examples to reinforce the content as I went along.

It was great to know that there was a tutor there to help me if needed too. My online tutor was reassuring and encouraging in the lead-up to my first exam, but after that, I felt that I could tackle the content and exams on my own at my own pace.

I think my qualification is one of the reasons I was taken seriously and have been able to secure a role with Netflix.
