The CMI Level 3 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring is broadly comparable to qualifications such as A Levels and Advanced Apprenticeships.
That doesn’t mean the course is the same as an A Level, but it means that it sits at a similar level of difficulty, while focusing specifically on practical leadership and first line management skills.
This makes it a useful qualification if you’re working towards a role such as Team Leader, Supervisor or First Line Manager.
The CMI Level 3 Certificate is absolutely worth it if you’re a supervisor or first-line manager looking to develop your coaching and mentoring skills.
Awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), it focuses on helping you learn practical skills you can use in the workplace, including methods of mentoring, coaching funnels and identifying successful outcomes.
The Certificate sits between the CMI Level 3 Award and the CMI Level 3 Diploma, making it a good middle-ground option. You’ll gain more depth than the Award, but with a more focused study commitment than the full Diploma.
It may be less suitable if you already have significant experience working as a professional coach or mentor. In that case, a CMI Level 5 qualification may be a better fit.
While no qualification can guarantee you a job, the CMI Level 3 Certificate can help enhance your CV and demonstrate to employers that you’re serious about improving your coaching and mentoring skills.
It can be especially useful if you want to develop your confidence as a coach or mentor to help guide your employees towards successful outcomes, which can set you in good stead for roles like First-line Supervisor, Manager or Team Leader.
