Deborah hadn't studied in 25 years and so was new to International GCSE's. Her experience with her tutor, Jennifer, really made her learning journey throughout and afterwards. 

Having recently retired from working in education for nearly 25 years, I very quickly established that I missed the learning environment, but not the pressures surrounding it.

Being of the generation where we were categorised into “those who excel at science/maths” and “those whose talents lie in language/linguistics” (I fell most definitely into the latter!) it is easy to assume that those skills are mutually exclusive.

While I sought to perhaps dispel this theory, my main motivation for enrolling on the I.G.C.S.E. Human Biology course was purely from interest and an attempt to expand-or maybe more accurately to launch! my scientific knowledge, without pressure or time constraints.

Although not my intention from the outset to sit the exams, the ICS Learn learning experience-course structure, outstanding tutor/science lead support and flexibility-led me to acknowledge that the bonus of a qualification might not be an unrealistic aspiration.

I found the course to be well-structured, clearly presented and easily navigable. Accompanying videos were a useful tool, not only in imparting the information, but in making the course more readily accessible to all, whether visual or auditory learners.

The course content was interesting and absorbing, which maintained my engagement and concentration at every stage.

As a veteran of the former ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level system, my tutor, Jennifer also allowed for the fact that the format of modern exams was new territory for me!

After the exam, her involvement continued as she took the time to liaise regarding my perception of it and of course the result (with which I was very happy).

Jennifer was exceptional in her support throughout. Always available, she responded quickly to queries. Doubts were countered with positivity and practical, easy to comprehend and implement solutions.

In summary, I would highly recommend ICS Learn for their superb delivery of courses, constant support, encouragement and flexibility.

My experience highlights that the ICS Learn system really is accessible to all, regardless of circumstances, educational history, age or motivation to study.
